QPS high level controls LabView tools, an overview

Overview: Tools vs data source Gateway read/write Logging DB read only 4 applications 3 applications read only PM Files 2 applications QPS debug text files 2 applications

TOOLS WITH GATEWAY ACCESS

GW RW:QPS Expert “Zinur” QPS Expert clone, supports a subset of commands Able to send commands to whole sector, monitors quench loop Used during commissioning and sometimes during interventions Accesses the gateway, reading and writing by Zinur

GW RW:Interlock tester Fully automatic interlock tests for iQPS and nQPS Used during commissioning, very sophisticated & error tolerant software Currently defunctional due to RADE/CMW issues Accesses Gateways in read and write mode

GW RW:HDS commissioning by B. Panev

GW RW: QPS parameter loader Used to load board-specific parameters to nQPS system Ad-hoc development during hardware commissioning Accesses Gateway in read/write mode

GW R:Flag Checker Shows all flags of the QPS systems of one sector for iQPS and nQPS Used during commissioning and operation  Piquet can see where the quench loop is open Shows immediately the situation of the QPS system Gateway access in read mode

GW R:Parameter checker Grabs QPS parameter config from Gateways and compares against reference files Used during commissioning and during any intervention which might affect parameters Gateway access in read mode (does not access single agents)

GW R: Analogue values reader Monitors all analogues values of a whole sector and sets colors Used mainly during commissioning  very useful during DQHDS campaigns or UPS test Gateway access in read mode

GW R:BS/DS live reader Displays live data from BS and DS boards for a whole sector Used heavily for CSCM, might be useful for other purposes Gets data directly from gateway by Zinur

LOGGING BASED TOOLS

Logging:Splice Resistance Monitor Calculates the splice resistance with the help of DQQBS data Shows nQPS signals for whole sector Supports CSCM signals Used during commissioning, CSCM and operation if signals have to be monitored Data source: Logging

Logging:QPS live checker/log reader Scans Logging DB to detect erroneous QPS equipment Used permanently during operation Accesses Logging DB only

Logging:qpsGeneralBrowser_RB Displays logging data for a whole sector Used during commissioning, also helpful in analysis during operation Uses data from Logging DB by Zinur

PM BASED TOOLS

PM:QuenchHeaterDischargeAnalysis Analysis of main circuits quench heater discharges (uses DQHSU data for RB) Used during commissioning (HDS campaigns, training etc.) and for any heater discharge during operation Uses PM files as data source by Zinur

PM:Quench Heater Discharge Analysis Module Quench Heater Discharge Analysis module is active since 17/07/2015 Automatic analysis of the quench heater discharges Operates as a module in the post mortem analysis framework Active since July Uses PM files as data source by Zinur

TXT BASED TOOLS

TXT: QPS PM text file viewer Viewer for QPS PM debug text files, implements filtering and error correction Used to see QPS debug text files during commissioning or operation Accesses QPS PM debug text file repository

TXT:Simple DS Buffer Viewer Displays the PM buffers generated by the DQQDS boards, calculates difference voltages Used during commissioning, when PM viewer did not support DS PM files Accesses QPS PM debug text file repository

Conclusion All together >15 tools had been developed (not all are mentioned in this talk) Applications serve as a “Toolbox” for various tasks during hardware commissioning and operation Many tools had been developed even during hardware commissioning as emergency “help yourself” projects Applications with direct gateway access (especially write access) can influence operation ! Maintainance of the tools is crucial (  interlock tester)
