Bobby Norfleet entered the NASCAR in 2005 Bobby Norfleet entered the NASCAR in 2005. He has raced motorcycles, trucks and cars.

What is NASCAR? NASCAR is the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.

It’s a sport that allows race car drivers from all over the world to compete.

Tia’s path to race car driving started at the age of 8.

Tia discovered her love for driving, during the journey’s her dad would let her take. Tia’s dad allowed her to drive to the store or to run short errands by herself in the family car. She was only eight years old. Tia and her dad knew her mom would never have allowed such a thing. Therefore, they kept her voyages a secret from her mom.

Tia was born in Suffolk, Virginia. She now lives in Augusta, Georgia.

Tia was once asked why she wanted to be a NASCAR driver?

Her response: “To change the way African Americans view the sport of race car driving.”

Tia further stated “If you asked the average Black person what NASCAR is, they think it is when a person drives around in a circle on a race track”

Lucky #34 The #34 has history in the race car industry. Former race car driver Wendell Scott bore the #34. Tia pays tribute to his legacy.

Being A Trailblazer Tia knows that being the “first” African-American to break the NASCAR barrier leads down a tough road. She is committed to racing down that road. She hopes it causes other African Americans to follow. Even if they don’t become race car drivers, Tia wants African Americans to know there are other career opportunities available. Mechanics, engineers, and pit crew members.
