Voting and the General Election L.O: To examine the reasons why we should vote in General Elections “Every election is determined by the people who show up.” ― Larry J. Sabato, Pendulum Swing Larry J. SabatoPendulum Swing

Would you rather the winner of Britain’s Got Talent was decided by the Judges or a public vote?

So... What are General Elections all about? As you watch the following film you need to write down key points about voting and the General Election in the UK

People under the age of 24 are least likely to vote. Why do you think this is? Why Vote?

Your challenge... In your groups you need to design a campaign specifically aimed at encouraging the under 24’s age group to vote Your teacher will explain how they want you to present your campaign, but remember the key aim behind it

Your challenge... What are you doing? You are a PR company who has been asked by the government to create a pitch, speech and advert encouraging more young people to vote. Groups: You will be working in groups of 3-5 What do you need to include? Tell them what young people are interested in and what they want and need from the government Suggest ways that politicians can engage with young people and make them more interested in politics Remember you will need an advert to encourage young people to vote How long do you have? One lesson to prepare and one lesson to present

Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote. Andrew Lack Will you vote?
