United States Department of Justice IEPD Governance Principles Goal: Develop a governance structure for IEPD development. Purpose: Governance provides an overarching structure to prioritize and support the JRA on a strategic, functional, and operational level.

United States Department of Justice Principle 1 All GJXDM IEPD development should be eligible for entry into the IEPD Clearinghouse. Rationale: –We want to make the Clearinghouse open and available to everyone. We want to encourage IEPD use and reuse by other IEPD developers. –Ensure that ideas from the community about IEPDs are surfaced and exposed. Practical Implication: There is a risk of having many entries.

United States Department of Justice Principle 2 We should develop a method to evaluate the available IEPDs for the value-added potential of things such identifying commonality of exchanges. Rationale: –The process could help IEPD developers improve their IEPD functionality. –The results could help harmonize a limited set of IEPDs. Practical Implication: This process could become staff intensive. We will need to enlist authoritative bodies to assist this process.

United States Department of Justice Principle 3 IEPD contributors own the documentation. This governance structure does not to imply Global ownership of or authority over the IEPDs. Rationale: –Global is a FACA and as such is an advisory group to the Attorney General. –Empower the stakeholders Implication: Who is controlling the deletion/modification of the IEPD?
