Pick a Seat, Any Seat Find a seat anywhere. Some of my classes are very large, so there will not be enough desks. You may sit at the counter. We will continue with this seating arrangement until we encounter problems. Don’t want a seating chart? Don’t talk while I’m talking, and don’t distract each other while you should be working.

This week’s schedule

Priority for Schedule Changes NO Schedule Changes will be considered during HOMEROOM. ALL Schedule Changes will be reviewed only during the period that a problem exists or during lunch! Types of Schedule Changes that will be considered each day: Monday, Aug Blank Schedules (HR teacher s Bennett), Missing Periods, Multiple Classes scheduled during the same period. Tuesday, Aug Level Changes – this is for students who wish to move into Honors/AP (need to turn in the signed AP/Honors Recommendation form signed by both the teacher and parent). For a student wishing to drop an Honors/AP Class you must have the recommendation from the teacher and permission from your parent. Wednesday, Aug Elective Changes --- all Elective changes must now be approved by your grade level administrator. Elective changes if approved can have an impact on your entire schedule since almost every class is considered full.

Pink Schedule KEEP the pink schedule from homeroom. DO NOT tear off the barcode. The barcode is what will be used when you check out textbooks (which will happen Thurs and Fri during Lit.)

Who’s your counselor? Jeff Bennett – 9 th Grade Brittany Voltner – 10 th Grade Marci Goodloe – 11 th & 12 th Grade

Computer log-ons Username: FirstInitialLastInitialLunch# For example: DH12345 Password: ccsd2014 until you log on for the first time THIS YEAR

Exemptions You will be able to exempt exams at the end of BOTH semesters this year 2 or less absences in the class PER semester (attendance record starts NOW!) OR 90+ in the class Remember: You may only exempt 2 finals per semester. Attendance is NOT based on WHOLE-DAY absences. It is based on the # of absences you have in the classes you want to exempt. If you miss 1 st period once a week, you’re not going to be able to exempt 1 st period. So you could have: 10 absences in 1 st period and only 1 in each of your other classes. You can choose from all of your classes except 1 st period which exams you want to exempt. Begin keeping an eye on your own attendance. Check the Portal regularly to make sure a teacher didn’t mistakenly mark you absent. If he/she did, let them know immediately, so there’s less chaos at the end of the semester!

Extras Lighting I don’t like the overhead lights. If you have trouble seeing, we can move you near a lamp, or we can turn the lights on. Please speak up if the lighting makes things difficult for you, or else I’ll never know. Purchase your yearbook Go to school website Click on Yearbook on the left Go to the link Order for $65! – delivered to school Student/Family Portal Go to school website Click on Student/Family Portal on the left Log in to see grades

Today: Evacuation drill Find your 2 nd period teacher Pass signed papers forward. Don’t have them today? Bring them tomorrow or else no locker AND Saturday School! I have a couple forms that were turned in without YOUR signature on them. Mackenzie, I have stuff for you. I need to check names off my list of who’s turned in papers Who WANTS a locker? You can always get one later from Ms. Wooten if you decide later you do want one. Assign lockers to those who have turned all required forms in Pass out transcripts

Transcripts Problems to look for…… 1.Did you receive credit for a class with a grade of 70 or above? If the answer is NO then most likely you need to file an attendance appeal with Mr. Bennett 2.Did you fail a class with a grade of 69 or below? If the answer is YES then you should meet with your counselor to review options available to you to recover those classes. Your homeroom teacher also has information they can print out for you for Recovery Option and Before/After School Credit Connect Recovery Program. 3.If you did not receive a transcript and you are a New Student to River Ridge you should receive it within the next two weeks --- please follow up with your counselor. 4. Keep up with your transcripts! This is important for seniors because you will need the transcript to answer numerous questions on your college applications and scholarship forms (GPA/Class Rank)
