What is it? The Lime Lighter is a computer program which is sold with its own computer which magnifies and allows special markup of music. The program comes with a foot pedal which is used to scroll through the magnified music on the screen. Music can be magnified anywhere from 1.25 to 10 times its original size The computer is set on an enlarged music stand designed for that purpose, so it could be used in a concert setting with little adaptation.

Cost and Availability The device is available from Dancing Dots Inc, at a suggested retail price of $3,995.

Who does it serve and what problems does it solve? This device can be used to help students of any age level who have vision problems, ranging from moderate to severe. The Lime Lighter allows for music to be magnified without adding unnecessary and cumbersome paper to the student’s music folder. The size of the device is such that it can be integrated into a regular music classroom with very little effort.

Demonstrations Demonstrations are available at main.htm. main.htm Students using this product are capable of performing with their classmates.

Classroom Modifications This device is very simple to integrate into a regular classroom. The device comes with an OCR (optical character recognition) software specifically designed for music, and therefore can be used by any music teacher. Thanks to its size and student’s inherent knowledge of technology, virtually no special modifications are required once music has been scanned in to the device.
