Weekly Photo Challenges Sem 1 Yearkbook

How does the challenge work?  Each week throughout the semester, you will be given a theme that will either be chosen by Mrs. Hiller or chosen by a classmate A theme will be given out each Monday Photos will be due the following Monday Any submission (as long as it falls within the theme) will be given a grade of 10  5% (or two marks) will be taken off for up to two days before you will no longer be able to submit a photo That means you have until the end of class on Wednesday of the week the photos are due to submit for grades

September 10 – 14  The theme for this week is…”An Object in Motion…”  Submissions will be due on Sept. 17 for full marks  Any photos received after Sept. 19 will not be accepted

September 17 – October 5  The theme for this week is…”What’s in a Name?” You are going to spell out your name with found objects (BUT…you cannot just use letters from signs) Lay out your photos in a document so they spell your name and submit that document  Submissions will be due on Oct. 5 for full marks  Any photos received after Oct. 11 will not be accepted

October The theme for this week is…”Come on get Happy!” 0 You will create a photo collage of 5 things that make you happy 0 Each photo should have a caption 0 Submissions will be due on Oct. 15 for full marks 0 Any submissions received after Oct. 17 will not be accepted

October 15 – 19 0 The theme for this week is…”Favourite Colour” 0 The focus of your photo will be your favourite colour 0 This means that your “subject” should stand out 0 It should be obvious what your favourite colour is!! 0 Submissions will be due on Oct. 22 for full marks 0 Any submissions received after Oct. 24 will not be accepted

October The theme for this week is…”Friends” 0 You should aim to capture a candid moment (ie. People are NOT posed in the picture) 0 Look for interesting perspectives and angles you could use to capture your friends 0 Submissions will be due on Oct. 29 for full marks 0 Any submissions received after Oct. 31 will not be accepted I AM LOOKING FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR UPCOMING CHALLENGES…PLEASE SEE ME IF YOU HAVE AN IDEA!!!

0 The theme for this week is…” THRILLER!!!” 0 In light of Halloween, you want to capture something spooky, eerie or creepy 0 Challenge yourself to shooting pictures in the late afternoon, evening or at night to capture interesting shadows and light 0 Submissions will be due on Nov. 5 for full marks 0 Any submissions received after Nov. 7 will not be accepted

November The theme for this week is…”Solitude” 0 You want to make your viewers feel that the subject or themselves is lonely or isolated 0 Focus on creating emotion with this photo 0 Submissions will be due on Nov. 12 for full marks 0 Any submissions received after Nov. 14 will not be accepted

November The theme for this week is…”It’s the Little Things that Count” 0 Your goal is to photograph “little things”  these can be small objects/people/etc., or even little things in your day that make you smile 0 You could also capture objects using a perspective that makes the viewer perceive that they are small 0 Submissions will be due on Nov. 27 for full marks 0 Any submissions received after Nov. 29 will not be accepted

November 27 – December 3 0 The theme for this week is…”Winter Wonderland” 0 Capture a beautiful natural winter scene or even perhaps an event, sport or pastime that reminds you of winter 0 Submissions will be due on Dec. 3 for full marks 0 Any submissions received after Dec. 5 will not be accepted
