Science Vocabulary Review SNAP! Game 1st 6 Weeks 2nd Grade Vocabulary Words

All of the vocabulary words on the following slides are words that I teach during the 1st 6 weeks of Science for my 2nd grade students. We will have talked/learned about these words though out the 6 weeks. This game is used to help the students review the definitions for the vocabulary test at the end of the 6 weeks.

Vocabulary Words and Definitions Scientist- a person who studies things to do with science Mass- the amount of matter in something Matter- anything that takes up space and has mass Temperature- a way of measuring how hot or cold something is Melt- to change from a solid to a liquid by the addition of heat Solid- a state of matter in which the substance has a definite shape and volume Liquid- a state of matter in which the substance has a definite volume, but takes the shape of its container Gas- a state of matter in which the substance takes both the shape and the volume of its container

The following slides are part of a power point that is used through out the 6 weeks to help the students connect the vocabulary word with pictures and be able to use the word in a sentence.

Scientist I can be a scientist.

Mass Everything has mass.

Everything is made up of matter.

The temperature outside is 84OF.

Melt My ice is about to melt.

Ice is the solid form of water.

Liquid Water is a liquid.

Gas Air is a gas.
