6.) Morality/Ethics A Few General Principles: Don’t Harm the Earth!!- Natives see the Earth as a fragile pregnant women about to give birth to life. Don’t be wasteful- Use up all parts of an animal which is killed for food. Example: In the Arctic, natives hunted and depended on the seal for food. However, seal skin provided boots, bags, kayaks, igloo linings, and clothing. Seal oil was used for heating, cooking, and light.

The Earth Charter A.) We Must Respect and care for the community of life by: 1.) Recognizing that all living beings are of value and that all are interdependent. 2.) Affirming that with increased knowledge and power comes increased responsibility for the common good. 3.) Ensuring the participation of all in society and the respect for human rights. 4.) Taking care to protect the beauty and bounty of the Earth for future generations.

The Earth Charter We must protect and restore the Earth’s ecological systems by: 1.) Safeguarding endangered species and caring for the Earth’s water, soil, air, forests, and oceans. 2.) Exercising precaution, discerning the potential impact of our actions to ensure that they will not be harmful. 3.) Adopting lifestyles that emphasize quality of life while minimizing consumption. 4.) Recognizing and preserving the traditional ecological knowledge and spiritual wisdom of all cultures.
