First Law of Motion Also called the “Law of Inertia” Inertia – the tendency of an object to stay at rest or remain in motion. It is measured by the object’s mass. Greater mass = greater inertia The law states: An object in rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion UNLESS acted upon by an outside force.
Amount of inertia is determined by the mass !
