The 2004 Election The 2004 election was between George W. Bush and John Kerry This election was known as a very negative campaign and also known to have a lot of “mudslinging” The two candidates were running for President

Negative Statements 72 % of people say there was more mudslinging in this campaign than the previous election in 2000 Kerry was winning early in the race and the Bush administration started labeling him as a rich northern liberal who was out of touch with ordinary Americans 86% said they learned a lot about the candidates and that the election was informative.

In 2004 John Kerry tried to portray himself as a war hero during the Vietnam War and Bush’s campaign focused on proving that it was not true The Kerry campaign also attacked Bush for his war records also, this is because he never actually went to Vietnam, he was only in the National Guards because his family was wealthy and they never made him actually fly over to fight
