John Cabot was a trades person and he trades things for gold and a trades person is someone who is like a shopkeeper/merchant.
He was a skilled navigator and he wanted someone to pay for him to make a trip around the world.
King Henry the 7 th in England gave Cabot the permission to take the trip.
John Cabot set out to find a faster and safer way to the East Indies.
He traveled as far as Chesapeake Bay in present day Maryland which is very far.
But on John Cabot's trip back he died. Some say he died in a shipwreck and some say he starved to death. But sadly that was the last of John Cabot.
