The IB Way

 Title  Background Information -enhances the understanding of the investigation and… - demonstrates personal significance, interest or curiosity  Aim  Research Question  Hypothesis  Independent and Dependent Variables are Stated

 List of all equipment used in the investigation  Diagram or picture to show setup  Description of method/procedures -past tense -describes how the IV was varied (ie. different concentrations) -describes how changes in the DV were monitored -how the controlled variables were controlled -describe the method for data collection

 Raw Data Table -Numbered -Caption -Title -Units -Uncertainties (tools are not always perfect)

The purpose of this section is to communicate whether your data was relevant or not.  Sufficient Qualitative Data is Reported  Statistics (t-test, chi-square)  Appropriate graph expressing measurement uncertainty (error bars)  Data is processed so as to answer the research question

 Conclusion is described and justified by the data  Relevant comparison to accepted scientific understandings are made  Strengths and weaknesses discussed especially methodological weaknesses  Realistic and relevant suggestions to improve and/or extend the investigation

 Presentation is clear (errors do not hamper the reader’s understanding of the focus, processes, and outcomes.  Clear report structure  Relevant and concise (6-12 pages)  Terminology and conventions is appropriate
