BENEFITS TO STRUCTURES TC The course instructor is paid $1500/day in honoraria for courses that requires registration fees. This honoraria can be shared with other instructors if there is more than one or can be donated to the TC that supports the course. For distance learning courses - $250/student. TCs that support the course are listed on the website and can receive the honoraria 3

Brainstorming Session Short Course Brainstorming Session at AIAA SciTech AIAA has offered professional development short courses at its events for a number of years as part of its Continuing Education program. Many of these courses are developed by experts within the Technical Committees and are a primary activity for the committees. Over the last few years, attendance at some courses has been declining due to a number of factors including costs, time out of the office, government travel restrictions, and reductions in organizations’ training budgets. The two AIAA Standing Committees involved with short courses—the Career and Professional Development Committee and the Technical Activities Committee—are working together to assess this Continuing Education offering to determine if changes need to be made to what AIAA offer and how. To collect feedback from Technical Committees and other interested groups, there will be a Short Course Brainstorming Session held during the upcoming AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition (AIAA SciTech). Please join us to share your ideas about course content, delivery, audience, market, and competition. The session is being held: Wednesday, 6 January hrs Torrey Hills AB, Manchester Grand Hyatt 10

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES US? Plenty of courses available – e.g. SAE, Universities, Coursera, etc. Contents in text books, standards, research articles, etc. What differentiates AIAA STC?  Knowledge resident in representatives from Academia, Government, Industries, and Research Institutes. 15

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES US? What others don’t have?  “practical” aspects of the subject (this is a suggestion)  E.g. “Practical Series” a bridge between academia and industry.
