Team status The CAA Research Associate, G. Facskó is responsible for CAA and Cross Calibration activities with the assistance of the WHISPER Team. Internal WHISPER team: –S. Kougblénou and G. Lointier (WHISPER engineers under CNES contract) –X. Vallières (WHISPER lead engineer – part time)

Production status The density production schedule depends on the mass archive production by CNES (to create CEF files). Current status –Mass archive → delivered → March 2008/ready until June –Density archive → delivered → June 2008 From May 2008 only density from WHISPER low-cut off can be produced, EFW data being unavailable EFW is necessary for method 11E (low-cut off+EFW) and method 21E (EFW recalibration) New/improved Density Files will be delivered whenever EFW data are available

Several problems encountered with some of the mass archive files –Bug in the archive software corresponding to a particular case ( SC2) of a frequency table non entirely swept : bug corrected and file re- delivered – errors in the « Spectral_Frequencies » parameter (PR09-WHI16) –« Compressed_Data_size » parameter not consistent with header description Reprocessing software has been developed: reprocessing will be done at CNES not before Feb 2010, due to planning constraints. PR09-ALL02:For nearly all datasets there is a reference to dataset caveats (C*_CQ_*) but in nearly all cases no such datasets exist… R: WHISPER will provide dataset caveats. Draft has been sent for approval.

PR09-WHI05 WHISPER calibration softwares use 100m antenna effective length instead of the 88m physical length that is used by all other WEC experiments… R: Internal WHISPER calibration uses a 100m tip-to-tip antenna length whereas CAA data products actually use a 88m tip-to-tip antenna length for calibration, as all other WEC instruments. The user guide contains an error concerning the CAA products (except for PPDBs where the antenna length used is 100m). The user guide will be updated and this length will be documented in the PPDB CEF headers.

CC9-AI-3 to produce the complete set of electron gyro-frequenies for years 2004 and beyond R: gyro-frequencies for 2005 plasmaspheric passes have been delivered very recently to the FGM team is ready to be delivered. Results to be analyzed.
