RETENTION SYSTEM sockets for post installation THE INTELLIGENT FOUNDATION FOR POST INSTALLATION TM

RETENTION SYSTEM – what is it? The RETENTION SYSTEM is a range of impact resistant housings for all pole mounted street furniture- bollards, railings, signs, traffic signals, lighting columns….. From 48mm dia. to 400mm dia.

RETENTION SYSTEM – how it works.

RETENTION SYSTEM – base options.

RETENTION SYSTEM – installation/test movie.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it. Emergency repair/maintenance Removes the need for excavation when replacing damaged poles. Reduces amount of time workers spend at dangerous sites. Reduces or removes the need for traffic management. Gets essential infrastructure back on line quickly.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it. Emergency repair/maintenance Congested services Where site conditions prevent the required foundation depth being achieved, we have a Shallow Foundation option that will allow an EN40 compliant foundation in a 300mm deep foundation.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it. Emergency repair/maintenance Congested services Access Control Pole based infrastructure housed in RETENTION SYSTEM units can easily be temporarily removed for civic events, temporary access or seasonal requirements.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it. Emergency repair/maintenance Congested services Access Control Wide load routes Using RETENTION SYSTEM units on wide load routes means you can quickly and easily place poles in a horizontal position, out of the way of the passing wide load.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it. Emergency repair/maintenance Congested services Access Control Wide load routes Project planning The civils contractor can install a RETENTION SYSTEM unit and complete his work up to surface level without installing the pole. This separates the civils and electrics trades and makes the project easier to organise.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it. Emergency repair/maintenance Congested services Access Control Wide load routes Project planning Pedestrian Safety Because the RETENTION SYSTEM sits flush with the pavement surface (no flange or threaded bar sticking up), the pavement is safe for use even when a pole isn’t installed.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it. Emergency repair/maintenance Congested services Access Control Wide load routes Project planning Pedestrian Safety Infrastructure future proofing With ITS technology developing so rapidly, the ability to temporarily remove poles in order to run extra cabling and add extra devices could be really useful.

RETENTION SYSTEM – reasons to use it.

The most compelling reason for using the RETENTION SYSTEM must be the cost saving effect they have on maintenance budgets. The price comparison tables below reflect in New Zealand dollars the typical savings experienced by RETENTION SYSTEM users in the UK, typically a 60-70% reduction in pole replacement costs. RETENTION SYSTEM – testimonial. We have installed RS115DF sockets and bridgedeck versions all around Cork City. I highly recommend all of these products. They are well designed and built to a very high standard. Michael Finnegan Traffic Section, Cork County Council. Ireland May 2004

RETENTION SYSTEM – testimonial. Of the 100’s of RETENTION SYSTEM sockets we have installed in Cork we have never experienced a single product failure in a properly installed unit, even at sites where we have repeat knockdowns. Michael Finnegan Traffic Section, Cork County Council. Ireland October 2015 We have installed RS115DF sockets and bridgedeck versions all around Cork City. I highly recommend all of these products. They are well designed and built to a very high standard. Michael Finnegan Traffic Section, Cork County Council. Ireland May 2004

RETENTION SYSTEM – testimonial. Knockdowns - Correctly installed the retention socket is able to withstand a vehicle collision meaning that only the signal pole needs replacement, thus reducing civils costs and enabling a more rapid replacement of the pole. This represents potential savings in the cost of remedial works recharged to each district. Peter Heath Bury Metropolitan Borough Council. U.K. Limerick City Council is so completely satisfied with this product, that it has become an integral component of our signal junction designs and is currently a specified element for all new traffic signal installations. Rory McDermott Traffic Section Limerick City Council. Ireland. The installation of your RS115 Retention System has simplified the removal and refitting of the pole. In conclusion, I am extremely satisfied with this product which meets all my requirements. Frank Burrows, East Staffs. Borough Council. Just a note to let you know we had our first signal knockdown where the pole was in socket retention unit. The unit performed as advertised!... Outstanding Pete Coulson, Dundee City Council. 02nd March The same pole was struck again this morning, again the RS 115 performed as advised. Siemens had the signals back on in less than three hours. Fantastic. Pete Coulson, Dundee City Council. 27th April 2004

Summary of Retention System Benefits Saves money (on labour, materials, traffic management….). Saves time, the most precious resource. Reduces maintenance workers exposure to on site dangers. Reduces asset downtime. Enables the fast removal and replacement of sacrificial passively safe support structures. Assists with planning strategy and asset management. Allows for temporary removal for seasonal events, temporary access… Clean, high quality finish, urban street furniture foundation solution. Thank you for you time. RETENTION SYSTEM – in summary.
