What is the principle behind the Quantiferon-Tb assay for TB? Definition: It is a whole-blood test for use as an aid in diagnosing Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection – latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) – tuberculosis (TB) disease

What is the principle behind the Quantiferon-Tb assay for TB? The principle relies on the quantitative (in vitro) release of interferon gamma by the lymphocytes, upon exposure of M. tuberculosis proteins antigens – include mixtures of synthetic peptides : ESAT-6 and CFP-10
