This is Marie Curie Born: November 7 th 1867 Died: July 4 th 1934

Family Marie had three sisters and one brother her sisters names were Zosia, Bronia and Helena and her brother’s name was Jozef. Her parents were school teachers. Marie Curie had two children named Éve and Iréne and her husband was Pierre Curie.

Life Although Marie and her brothers and sisters all graduated in high grades they had financial problems. To help they kept student borders which helped disease spread. Marie Sklodowska Curie became interested in science when her mother died after several cures for tuber cubsis. After Marie's mother died Marie was encouraged to study science with some of her family.

Discoveries Marie Curie discovered radium and polonium with the help of her husband Pierre Curie. She lead a team to help people with cancer by using radio activity. She also helped soldiers that were injured with her daughter Irene. She got two Nobel peace prizes.

Education Marie Curie went to Sorbonne University where she met her husband. When she was in Sorbonne University she studied maths, physics and chemistry, and also got a masters degree in maths an d D.Sc. two years later in the same University.

Other Achievements Marie Curie found out that you can exactly measure the strength of the radiation from uranium. She was awarded half of the prize Henri Becquerel received for his discovery of spontaneous radioactivity. She was awarded the 1911 noble prize in chemistry for her discoveries and studies of radium. She is the only woman so far who has been awarded a noble prize twice.
