What is Antarctica Day? 53 years ago, on 1 st December, Nations has signed the Antarctic Treaty This has frozen all the territorial claims on Antarctica and sets aside Antarctica as a natural reserve, devoted to peace and science, establishes freedom of scientific investigation and bans military activity on that continent “ forever to be used exclusively for peaceful purposes in the interest of mankind.”
