How Did You Attract Your Audience? Victoria Howell

Part A: Marketing Tools - Our audience social group of young adults interaction with the media would be the internet or the television. This is because the majority of young adults have an account on a social networking site, like Facebook, Twitter etc. - Even though the film is independent we could advertise our film through Pull Advertising. For example interactive marketing such as social media and viral marketing campaigns, websites and word of mouth. - Push Advertising is more for mainstream films but for our film we could have posters, billboards and Television Ads locally rather than nationally and worldwide. - Another way to market is through events such as television or radio interviews, cast attending other media events and awards. - Media coverage through things like film festivals and award ceremonies promote and market the film so it can become well known and popular. - Test screenings in specific cities in the UK can help for promoting and marketing the film. It is also helpful to get feedback from those who are at the test screenings. - By casting actors who are well known in similar genre films makes the audience more inclined to watch the film just to see that actor even if they don’t like the idea of the film. - Having a unique selling point in print and outdoor posters and trailers is important because they are the things that everyone, including the target audience, are going to see.

Part B: Audience Feedback By having normal teenage girls as the main characters it make them relatable. Some of the audience could have things in common with them and makes them think they could be in the same situations as the girls. In the film there is the real issue of alcoholism. Some people could be in the same situation and can have the same issue or have someone close to them so they could relate. In the film there storyline is focused around the murder of a young girl. Some people like to watch films with murders and then get enjoyment from figuring out who the murderer is.

In the film we used a spooky setting because they are eerie and adds suspense. It also makes the audiences imaginations run and makes them wonder if someone is watching her and if its not all that it seems. By having a normal setting it also makes the audience feel uneasy for many reasons; it could be filmed near their town or city or could look like their local areas. These things make the setting relatable. By using a normal family and showing happy photographs it makes the family relatable and makes the audience think that it could be them or their family member or friend that is in the girls situation. From the feedback given, I feel we have successfully targeted our audience and addressed their needs by making the storylines, settings and characters relatable, scary and puzzling.
