Where is Marquette Have you been to Marquette before? Marquette is located in Upper Peninsula. It is shorefront of Lake Superior. Marquette average snowing of 144 inches per year. Marquette is capital of Upper Peninsula.

The visitors can enjoy golfing,fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, and snow boarbiling.

There are so many tours in Marquette. Like “Picture Rocks national Lake Shore”, “Marquette History Museum”, and “The Upper Peninsula Children Museum.” On a tour called “Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tour” can see Lake Superior with Glass Bottom Ship.

In Marquette the famous people were Chuck Fairbanks who is the patriots head coach and Mary Baker Eddy who is a founder of church of Christian science, and built the Christian science Church in Marquette in 1926.

On August 21,1850 Marquette was named after Jacques Marquette who was a French missionary and an explorer.

Development of that area did not begin, until 1844, when William Burt and Jacob Houghton discovered iron deposits near Teal Lake West of Marquette.In 1845, Jackson Mining Company, the first organized mining,company in the region, was formed. :
