From yesterday… Describe the Qin Dynasty in ONE word.

Today you will be able to answer these questions… What is civil service? What are the accomplishments for the Han dynasty? What is a Golden Age? Could the Han be considered China’s Golden Age?

What do you already know about the Han Dynasty?

The Qin Falls… After a brief period of fighting, the Han dynasty proves to have the Mandate and will rise to power. The Han rules from 202 BCE to 220 CE Lui Bang is the founder of the dynasty. He reestablishes the centralized government.

Wudi established that government jobs will be based on education. He creates the Civil Service System. The Civil Service Exams test applicants for jobs, so the best candidates are chosen. Lui Bang’s great grandson, Wudi, takes control in 241 BCE, continuing the Han dynasty.

Paper Making Papermaking is known to have been traced back to China about 105 CE, when Cai Lun, an official attached to the Imperial court during the Han Dynasty (202 BCE-220 CE), created a sheet of paper using mulberry and other bast fibers along with fishnets, old rags, and hemp waste.
