Simple Sentences Simple sentences are like single adults Simple sentences are 1 independent idea; they do not need a second idea to be finished. Simple sentences are like single adults Simple sentences are 1 independent idea; they do not need a second idea to be finished. “I am one independent person. I can be on my own.”

Simple sentences often have ….. 2 subjects + 1 verb Justin Bieber and Britney Spears are my favorite singers. 1 subject + 1 verb Justin Bieber is my favorite singer.

Simple sentences can also have …… 1 subject + 2 verbs Justin Bieber sings and dances. 2 subjects + 2 verbs Justin and Britney sing and dance.

Careful! If you are missing a subject or a verb, you do not have a sentence! drinks The cat _______ milk from a bowl. ^ My roommate likes to stay up late. ^

Compound Sentences “We were single, but now we are married!”
