Multi - Site Collaboration? Simply, these are systems that allow for teams to work together while not in the same location. The internet is fantastic for those wanting to work from home.

Concerns Why do we need this? With the use of the internet, there is a growing expansion around the world of companies. Keeping everyone on task is important for time critical work. Limiting disruptions, increasing “personal” space, and other factors are key.

How are we here now? Let’s think about this historically Yelling at each other across a room(aka meetings) Blackboards – Later Whiteboards Mail (Yes the Post office version!) Phones – Conference Calls (Implies computers) Central Servers Mobile devices Cloud services Robots?!

Focusing a bit Let’s make an example company in thought. Has survived through the test of time to be a multi national organization with in office and home employees. What systems would they potentially use?

Google Docs An office is built on paperwork, who says that code is any different? Like GitHub with version control

Microsoft SharePoint A lot like Google Docs but done by Microsoft Fun part is there are different pieces of software that can be used in conjunction with SharePoint to create a more specific system. us/sharepoint/collaboration
