 What is an inherited trait? › Give examples  What is an acquired trait? › Give examples

 A trait is a characteristic of a living things. These traits can either be inherited or acquired.  An inherited trait is a characteristic that is received directly from the parents. It is coded for in the D.N.A.  An acquired trait is a characteristic that is learned or gained by experience or circumstance.

 How many parents are involved in each.  How is the genetic information exchanged?  How varied is the genetic material from parent to offspring?  How do the inherited structural traits of parents compare with their offspring?  What are the advantages of both?

 Name organisms that produce sexually:  What cellular process must take place in order for this type of reproduction to be possible?

 Name organisms that reproduce asexually.  What kind of cellular process must take place for this kind of reproduction to occur?

 Why are certain traits more likely to be an advantage for the survival of an organism?  Give examples of traits that would provide an advantage in one environment but not in another:
