Niagara Falls, located on the Canadian-American border, is a popular tourist destination. It is often visited by honeymooners.

The Horseshoe Falls As its name implies, it is a large semicircle The American Falls, which is slightly higher than the Hoseshoe

The shape of the Canadian falls is changing due to the rapid flow of water over the edge. The erosion of the edge is greater in the middle where the water flows faster and is causing the semicircle shape of the falls to increase. Some scientists are worried about this effect.

Both falls are part of the Niagara River. Only thirty-six miles in length, the Niagara River is a relatively short river. It connects Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. In fact, since it connects two large bodies of water, it id not really a river but rather a strait.
