ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY Counterargument/Rebuttals

COUNTERARGUMENT What would somebody say against you? NEGATIVE Counterargument Some people note that drones can increase safety with uses like search and rescue or monitoring criminals. Rebuttal This may be true, but drones have already proven to be dangerous, and I believe they will continue to pose a threat to our safety.

COUNTERARGUMENT What would somebody say against you? NEGATIVE Counterargument There are those who suggest drones can be a useful tool for protecting wildlife. Rebuttal However, I would argue drones could present real dangers for wildlife.

COUNTERARGUMENT What would somebody say against you? NEGATIVE Counterargument There are those who would point out the commercial benefits of drones. Rebuttal This may be true in some cases, but there are also some potential risks associated with commercial drones.

COUNTERARGUMENT What would somebody say against you? Positive Counterargument There are some that may feel drones are a threat to our safety. Rebuttal However, law enforcement is just beginning to use drones to protect our safety and, in some cases, save lives.

COUNTERARGUMENT What would somebody say against you? Positive Counterargument It is true that some initial studies suggest drones could negatively affect some wildlife. Rebuttal Yet, the potential benefits for our wildlife and our environment cannot be ignored.

COUNTERARGUMENT What would somebody say against you? Positive Counterargument It may be true that we face serious questions with the use of commercial drones. Rebuttal However, we cannot deny that using drones can revolutionize the way we do business in this country.

The counterargument must begin the paragraph. The counterargument must be a clear statement against your position. The counterargument must be short and specific. The rebuttal must immediately follow the counterargument. The rebuttal must DIRECTLY respond to the counter. The rebuttal must be supported. (explanation, quotation, commentary) The rebuttal acts as the topic sentence of your paragraph
