University of Hartford was chartered on February 21, 1957 First building built: Hillyer Hall(1960) First on-campus student: 1967 Seven schools and colleges on campus including: College of Arts and Sciences Barney School of Business College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture Hartford Art School The Hartt School Hillyer College History

Demographics/Culture Location: 350 acres in Hartford, Bloomfield and West Hartford, Connecticut 4,596 full-time undergraduate students 754 part-time undergraduate students 2,623 graduate students. 28% of undergraduate students and 16% of graduate student represent minorities Full-time undergraduate students: 51.4% of females 48.6% of males 43.9% are from Connecticut 3.8% are international students 13.9% are African American 7.2% are Hispanic 2.6% are Asian 61.2% are Caucasian. 61% reside on campus. University of Hartford represents 45 states and 58 countries ("University of hartford," 2012).
