Principal Internship 2010 Major Project by Bill C. Conley Data Analysis of “High Stakes” Tests Taken by Jackson High School Students

Purpose of the Data Analysis: - Show a three year trend in our students' scores. - These trends will show our strengths and weaknesses. - Teachers can use this information so new strategies can be used to strengthen our weaknesses. - Recognize strengths and determine what our teachers are doing that makes these areas our strengths. - To make every teacher feel that they play a major part in all of the “high stakes” tests that our students take.

Data that was analyzed: - Three “high stakes” tests: 1.) Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) 2.) Advanced Placement (AP) 3.) ACT - 4 content areas were analyze: 1.) Social Studies 2.) English 3.) Science 4.) Mathematics

Why does Jackson High School need to improve its OGT Math scores? 1.) There are 18 school districts in the state of Ohio that are better than us. (ranked 19 th in the Top 25 School Districts in Ohio with a 95.8% of our students at or above proficient) 2.) Each year our district either gets better or worse. 3.) We owe it to our students and community to strive to be the best year in and year out.
