Technology and Special Needs Students By Dennis Waller

Avenues for success

Technology as method of Instruction Use of computers to research materials for term papers Use a computer to play interactive games that relate to a particular subject, such as math practice, reading practice, history lessons, and science (how something works). Integrate the use of Smartboards when possible Ipads, ipods Teach students to use the computer to create s, word documents, Powerpoint presentations.

How can technology enhance learning? Can expand database of information in the research process Allows students to be creative Makes them use reasoning skills in making choices Helps teach proper formatting skills when typing an assignment Makes learning FUN!!!!! It can help the student to understand something when they are outside of the classroom.

Assessment of Technology as instruction Technology is an amazing tool in the arsenal of teaching methods. It allows students and teachers to be creative. Teaching students how to use technology in today’s world is as important as teaching them how to read. You are limited in your abilities if you don’t know how to use a basic computer. Enables the user to view other people’s work or views on a particular item. Greatly enhances the learning environment by allowing students to express their ideas and opinions without running the risk of being made fun of by their peers. Technology is here to stay, so we as teachers need to do everything possible to include it in our instruction, whether it’s the main method or used as an accessory. We can share ideas and information quickly without being face to face.
