What is Golf? 1 Putting the ball in a hole. Use as few strokes as possible. Challenging and takes time to master. All ages and skill levels. Played on different courses.

What clubs do you need? 2 Driver: for the distance during tee off. Woods: distance from the grass. Irons: approaching shots. Wedges: from close by or sand traps. Putter: put it in the hole.

Par 3 Strokes needed to complete a hole. Score of all holes in the course 3 over par = 3 over designed score. Courses usually have a Par 72.

Par (continued) 3 Par 3 – should make it in 3 shots. Par 4 – should make it in 4 shots. Par 5 – should make it in 5 shots. Distance of each par: 3 < 4, 4 < 5

Golf balls 4 Hard, round, and bounces. Outside is made of plastic. Inside is made of rubber. Has indentations on surface – “dimples” Flights depend on the golfer’s power.

Golf Terms 5 Hole in One – making the hole in one shot Albatross – a score of -3 Eagle – a score of -2 Birdie – a score of -1 Par – even or score of 0 Bogey – a score of +1 Double Bogey – a score of +2 Triple Bogey – a score of +3

A round of Golf 6 Takes about 4 hours for 18 holes. Skills of the group can affect time. Depends on how busy the course is. From 2 ½ to 6 hours.

“Ready Golf” 6 The farthest away hits first. Ready Golf = whoever ready goes. Speeds up the golf game. Uses less time than regular golf.
