Line Game How to play Two teams of equal numbers e.g. 4 v 4 One team is attacking, the other defending Players on both teams are numbered 1-4. Coach calls out a number from 1- 4 and the players who were given that number enter the grid and play against each other. The rest of the players on the defending team stay on the goal and prevent a score. Switch the teams to ensure both get a chance to attack & defend. Progression: Coach calls out more than one number leading to a 2 v 2 or 3 v 3 situation

Empty the Circle How to play  Aims to develop anticipation and ground striking.  2 players are assigned to the circle.  They stay inside the circle for 1 minute and attempt to strike all of the sliotars outside the circle.  The players outside the circle must stop the sliotars and dribble them back into the circle for the two players to strike again.  Count number of sloitars struck in 1 minute. Progression: Increase the number of players outside the circle.

Bean Bag Drill How to play  For beginners – players carry a bean bag on their hurl.  They move in a straight line – out to the 1 st cone, back pedal, out the 2 nd cone, back pedal….  The number of groups should dictate the number of colours if possible i.e. 4 groups should mean 4 different colours are used.  Each group is assigned to a particular colour.  The players pass as many cones of their designated colour as possible within a given time period.  Two mains aims of the drill are to pass as many cones as possible whilst also avoiding collisions with other players. ADVANCED BEGINNER

Past the Guards How to play  12 players  Mark out a grid 10m x 20m Players line up in 3 lines, Team A, B, C. Players in line A, ground strike the ball to reach players in line C. Players in line B must try to block the balls as they are passed. Ensure that the guards place the heel of the Hurley on the ground to intercept the ball Points are score if the ball passes the guards Players should change lines after a set time. Variation:  Increase the distance  Reduce the team sizes  Add extra Sliotars
