THE SLEEPING GYPSY By Henri Rousseau Oil on Canvas This power point was created by: Dashawn Costley DMC INC. Completed 11/11/2013

The Description The art work “The Sleeping Gyspy” is a amazing work of art. From the looks of it has a dreamy or hazy look to it. He use color mixtures to make a fade on the back round and environment. It seems that the man is peacefully sleeping. The other animal is a lion. The lion is watching the Man who is lying in a desert.

In the painting the main thing I saw when I looked at it was the man. He was just there… Asleep, as a lion stood almost on him. On the painting the right half has more of the important things on it. The balance on the painting is off. For the most part everything from the stars to the man’s clothing has a irregular pattern. Analysis

This painting is really sad and show a really depressing sort of image. The dark colors and shaded light colors make it look like gloomy. In my opinion the message of this painting is that you can find peace while things without peace watch you. What does this painting mean?

Judgment This painting in my eye is a success except for the guy. The lion and the back round is very realistic. Yet the guy looks….. Fake. Also his face has a white fade on it. Other wise this painting is a amazing work of art.
