Our Mission Statement To provide a safe, enjoyable, and well managed work atmosphere for EVERY associate. We are committed to achieving the highest level of service through honesty, teamwork, and respect for everyone who touches our business. Our success will be reflected in a better quality of life for our associates and the community where we work and live.

Nothing comes in front of safety! YOU decide to make Safety #1 Make it a personal commitment.

Do it right the first time. Take PRIDE in your high standards!

As long as we operate safely and maintain our high standards of quality, this will come all by itself.

Safety in-depth: Lifting safety Safety Violations Equipment safety Warm-up Exercises Safety Award Program Housekeeping

Lifting Safety The Green Zone –Everyone’s body is designed to lift and move safely within certain physical limits. –The pressure on the back increases the further the load is held from the body. –Never work in the red zone: ask for help! Always wear your lift belt before attempting to lift freight!

Safety Violations Level One –1/2 Coach Level Two –Coach Level Three –Step Level Four –Possible Termination

Level One Violations Following too closely on a lift Walking on pallets Not participating in start up exercise program Standing pallets on end Throwing trash on the floor Improper parking or speeding in pkg lot Open drink/food in the warehouse Not using proper lifting techniques Improper parking of power equipment

Level Two Violations Walking under racks Failure to wear PPE Failure to chock a trailer or use a jack stand Violating the 20-foot rule Entering main aisles forks first Failure to come to a complete stop at firewalls, main aisles or a stop location Entering a trlr without dock plate properly positioned Leaving dock door open Failure to properly fill out WMW-119 Chewing tobacco in unauthorized areas pushing freight with power equipment

Level Three Violations Total disregard of WMW-119 Lockout /Tagout violation Operating equipment other than a hand jack in a trailer without a tractor attached Reckless operation of equipment Welding without a fire watch or permit Unloading a trailer without a TCR Moving a trailer without proper authorization Entering, exiting, or jumping from dock doors

Level Four Violations Operating equipment without a license Failure to report any injury or equipment accident at the time it occurs Riding the forks of a lift or more than one person on a lift Smoking in unauthorized areas Horseplay Tampering/modifying power equipment

Power Equipment Safety Licensing program Safe Work Practices

Licensing Program A joint effort between Loss Prevention and the Coaching staff There must be a valid need for the power equipment request Begins with a request signed by the Operations Coach Associate must be mature enough to operate the equipment Associate must be able to operate the equipment SAFELY View the video and take the test. –90% or higher to pass, test can be retaken in 48 hrs. 4 hours of training required (may move freight, but cannot be held to production standards) Certification test held by Loss Prevention Should complete entire process within 7 days of the written exam Documentation will be held by LP

Safe Work Practices Full list included in your training manual Some of my favorites: Lift drivers should never lift or lower freight when an associate is... within 20’ CAUTION must be exercised to avoid striking overhead objects, including... water lines, gas lines, power lines, or sprinkler lines. DO NOT drive directly up to an individual assuming... the brakes will work.

Warm-up Exercises In our effort to maintain a safe and productive work environment, it is Wal~Marts intention that all Associates are mentally alert and physically prepared to perform their job functions safely. Doing these exercises may help prevent muscle injuries. Never bounce during a stretch. Always stretch before starting the day.

Safety Award Program Weekly Cash Drawing –$50 per day without a reportable accident –2nd week: $700 –3rd week: $1050 –4th week: $1400 Additional rewards at 100,000 hours without a Lost-Time accident What can we achieve??? Quarterly Team Incentive (.10) –based on the number of accidents requiring medical attention Quarterly Individual Incentive (.15) –no reportable accident –no preventable accident causing injury to someone else –no level 3 accident –no level 3 safety violation

Housekeeping Housekeeping is an important aspect of Safety!

I want YOU To decide SAFETY is #1!
