Assessment Assessment serves many purposes, but the main purpose of assessment in our school is to help teachers, parents and pupils plan pupils’ next steps in learning. We will no longer be assessing children’s progress and attainment using levels that span the whole key stage. In the new curriculum, the programme of study (content) is arranged by year groups, setting out what children are normally expected to have achieved by the end of each year. We will now be assessing children’s progress and attainment based on their understanding and application of age related key skills. No more SATs – new end of key stage tests; benchmarks? We will produce a detailed leaflet explaining exactly how we will do this soon and possibly an information evening for parents.

Why do philosophy with children? Builds a community of thinkers Develops reasoning skills Creates a culture of respect P4C
