Rat Dissection Expectations This dissection will compose of several parts Dissection Pre-lab Observations of dissection Dissection Questions Lab Report (Procedures, Reflection, and all previous parts) This will be a test grade and the full lab report is due when you return from break (January 4 th, 2016)

Rat Lab Dissection Guidelines and Rubric for the Dissection Lab Report

Cover Page – 5 points Includes a title, your name and your group member’s names, class, class period, and must be neat and organized  5 points If you are missing any of the information above  0-4 points

Table of Contents Page – 5 points Table of contents is neat and organized, and includes a detailed description of the location of each section of the lab report  5 points Table of contents is neat and organized, but missing information  3-4 points Table of contents is not neat and organized, and is missing information  0-2 points

Lab Procedure Pages – 30 points Each section of the lab procedure must be included to earn all 30 points You need to have the procedures that you followed written out for each system There must also be an explanation of any mistakes, reasons, or roadblocks

Questions Page – 20 points There are 20 questions that need to be answered on a separate page and included in the lab report. Each question answered will be worth 1 point

Reflection Page – 20 points You will need to include a 1 page or more reflection of what you learned from the lab activity. Also, compare and contrast the rat’s body to the human body – 10 points Half a page – 5 points No reflection page – 0 points

Observation Sheet – 20 points You will need to be sure to attach the copy of your notes and observations that you made during the actual lab – 20 points Not attached – 0 points

Pre Lab Questions These questions must be completed and answered by everyone in your lab group before you can move on Ask any questions before turning this in to the box at the front When you have completed the pre lab you can obtain materials to complete the dissection

15 Minutes Left in Class! Place your rat specimen into its bag Wash all tools and trays Throw away any trash, gloves, etc. Spray table with cleaner and wipe down fully Place all PPE back where it belongs!
