Explain how characterization is utilized within my summer reading novel to help convey theme by creating a well – developed justification with textual support.

CHARACTERIZATION ASSIGNMENT: DUE FRIDAY 9/4 1.First, please create a theme statement over your summer reading novel. Please use this stem to assist you: The __________(genre) _____________(title) by ______________(author) is about _________________(topic/abstract concept) and reveals that ___________________________(author’s attitude towards the topic/abstract concept OR truth about life/significance to the work as a whole) 2. Then, I want you to examine a character within your work. Please only choose one. Please answer the following questions with textual support: How did the author utilize characterization to help convey/support theme? How did the characterization enhance your understanding of the theme? 3. Lastly, I want you to put it all together in a well – developed paragraph. Your paragraph needs to have a specific focus (question 1 or 2) (topic sentence). Every sentence that follows must support your topic sentence (think of it as your thesis statement).
