Early Childhood Special Education Being an early childhood special education teacher would be working with, taking care of, and teaching young children that have all sorts of disabilities. Museum Curator A museum curator obtains, takes care of, develops, and explains artifacts, or artwork to educate people on the certain object.

Early Childhood Special Education Be a consultant/provider for IEP’s in a variety of settings Instruct students at the preschool level Assist students with their specific disabilities Use different teaching methods Set personal goals Design and teach appropriate curriculum Make sure each student is accommodated with what they need Museum Curator Create and Maintain exhibits Have to have a high level of education, usually a master’s degree Develop and research ideas for exhibits Outlines a timeline, budget, and makes sure an exhibit has proper staffing Periodic evaluations of already established exhibits

Early Childhood Special Education Early childhood special education teachers usually work in a preschool or an elementary school. Class sizes are small, usually 12 and under. It can be stressful due to all of the different needs of children needing to be met. Museum Curator Museum curators don’t just work in museums, they also work in zoos, botanical gardens, and historical sites.

Early Childhood Special Education In order to be an early childhood special education teacher, I would need to get my bachelors degree along with all the certifications to be qualified to take care of special education children. Advancement opportunities include moving up in the school command chain. Museum Curator To be a museum curator, I would have to have at least a bachelors degree in anthropology, history, museum studies, or archeology. To advance, you have to continue education in the field, most advance through publishing journals. Opportunities include being museum director, or moving on to a larger institution.

Early Childhood Special Education The average earnings for an early childhood special education teacher vary on the district and experience, but it ranges from $25,000 to $50,000, plus benefits. Museum Curator The average salary for a museum curator also depends on the degree of education someone has, but it can range from $44,000-$68,000.

Early Childhood Special Education I would love to go to Saginaw Valley State University, and attend their college of education after getting my pre- requisites out of the way. Museum Curator I would love to go to Saginaw Valley State University, again, and major in history.

Early Childhood Special Education The average cost at Saginaw Valley right now for a year is $17,015, and I will have to attend for five years. So the total cost of attending will be $85,075. Museum Curator To major in history would only take four years, bringing the cost down to $68,060.

Similarities of the two careers include both working with children, if they were to come into a museum. Also, both careers are driven by education. Another similarity is that they both need at least bachelors degree to even start the job.

Differences between early childhood special education and being a museum curator include one working with children more than the other. The time you have to go to college to get the degree differ by a year, and the type of degree you get differs as well. Being a museum curator would require me to travel a lot to different places, whereas being a teacher would have me come to the same place every day. And finally, being an early childhood special education teacher would involve me working with children, and being a museum curator would involve me working with artifacts.

My choice is to be an early childhood special education teacher. It seems like the best fit for me, I really enjoy the working environments, and I have always wanted to help children.
