Donor List Exploring Hebrews 11 to learn how to sacrifice for those who need us the most.

70 % of all students loose their faith after high school.

1:5 Every student needs 5 prominent adults in their lives and at least 1 of them needs to be from the church in order to maintain their faith after high school.

1 Corinthians 12: The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ… 18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it… 22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. 23 And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, 24 while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. 25 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. 26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. 27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

Hebrews 11 “Our author… confines himself to those features of his heroes’ careers which illustrate their faith in God, for the encouragement of those who come after them… he sets them in historical sequence so as to provide an outline of the redemptive purpose of God.” -F.F. Bruce, Emeritus Professor, University of Manchester-

Hebrews 11:1-3 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. 2 Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. 3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

Abel  Enoch  Noah  Abraham  Sarah  Isaac  Jacob/Esau  Joseph  Moses  Joshua (Jericho)  Rahab  Gideon  Barak  Samson  Jephthah  David  Samuel  Prophets (Elijah, Ezekiel, etc.)  Modern church martyrs

Hebrews 11: By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. 35 Women received their loved ones back again from death.

Hebrews 11:35-38 But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection. 36 Some were jeered at, and their backs were cut open with whips. Others were chained in prisons. 37 Some died by stoning, some were sawed in half, and others were killed with the sword. Some went about wearing skins of sheep and goats, destitute and oppressed and mistreated. 38 They were too good for this world, wandering over deserts and mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.

Hebrews 11: All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. 40 For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.

Hebrews 11 “If all the great men and women of this chapter could provide such shining examples of faith in action, even though they lived in the time of unfulfillment, how much more should those who have now experienced the culmination of God’s saving purpose stand firm as his people?” - R.T. France, New Testament Scholar -
