Investment game

The investments Everyone has £10,000 to invest in either - SHARES (risky but good return) - GOLD (not as risky as shares, but lower returns) - under the MATTRESS (no return but totally safe!)

The returns SHARES increase by 40%, decrease by 20% GOLD increase by 20%, decrease by 10% MATTRESS does not increase or decrease.

Rolling the dice Two dice are rolled – the numbers on the dice tell you what happens to your investment each year…

If the total on the dice is ODD then SHARES go DOWN, GOLD goes UP If the total on the dice is EVEN then SHARES go UP, GOLD goes DOWN If you roll a double, BOTH go UP unless…

Market crash!! …If you roll a DOUBLE 1 YOU LOSE ALL INVESTMENTS… (although your mattress money stays safe!)

Reinvestment At the end of each year you work out how much you have… Teachers: It’s up to you if you want to allow reinvestment at the end of each year, or perhaps just once at the 5 year stage (or not at all).

The aim of the game Who will have the most money after 10 years?
