Preliminaries  “Describe a time in your life when, despite the presence of other people, you felt alone.”

Objectives:  The students will be able to demonstrate fluency and comprehension in reading by: reading familiar materials aloud with accuracy; self- correcting mistakes; using appropriate rhythm, flow, meter and pronunciation; read a variety of genres and types of text while demonstrating comprehension.

Focus Lesson: Book…  Introduction  Ruth and The Moabites  Monotheism  Polytheism  Small Group Reading: “The Book of Ruth” chapter 1; take notes on the actions of the following characters:  Ruth  Naomi  Orpah  Class Reading/Listening: “The Book of Ruth”  Pre-reading  Comprehension Questions  Who is Boaz and what does he say to Ruth about what she’s done?  What does Naomi want for Ruth?  What important person does Ruth give birth to?

Focus Lesson: Book…  To summarize our reading, write a response to the following prompt: “One might say that Ruth and Naomi were on a quest as they journeyed to Bethlehem. If that is true, what was the nature of this quest and what might each character have discovered about herself?”

Homework  Read the “Rumplestiltskin” story.  Take 5 QNTs.
