Separating Mixtures take advantage of differences in physical properties Chromatography: Taking advantage of the differences in solubility of water, and of particle density of COLORS of magic markers. The insoluble Sharpie markers don’t “move” in the water. The water soluble colors will be pulled apart by the moving water. The lightest particles take the longest ride, the denser particles move less. The water separates the colors apart, and then lets them flow, making nice designs on the filter paper. Separating mixtures by taking advantage of differences in physical properties. Chem is WAY COOL. Nice art too!
