Gaming in your Media Center Is it possible?

21 Century Learners Digital Learner are “on demand” learners “twitch speed” Graphics first, text later Trail and error Collaborative learning groups “do” first and ask questions later Technology is part of their culture

How can you do it? Start with a visit your public library’s gaming night. Ann Arbor District Library Capital Area District Library Clinton Macomb Public Library Flint Public Library Rochester Public Library Royal Oak Public Library

Building Bridges Summer Camp 2008 My goals: Get the kids to socialize. Get the kids to cooperate. Get the kids to work together.

Have the kids bring in their games. Focus on multi player games. Focus on quick playing games. Appropriate games for your age group. Label with names all the games, consoles etc. Parents permission.

NEXT TIME… Prepare your Principal – AASL Gaming Alignment standards Parent explanation. “This is what my kid does already!” Upper Elementary / Middle School Kids may need help with setup. Group of kids were more interested in setting up their Nintendo DS than wii or Playstation. High School Kids – no problem, just let them play!
