Understand Qur’an – the Easy Way For Primary School Children (Book-1) Lesson-5: Surah Al-Falaq In the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful

Surah Al-Falaq –Who wants to be safe from all types of evils and harm?? Of course, every one of us. Reciting this Surah gives us the protection of Allah from all types of evils, harm, damages, sickness, etc. –If we take the protection of Allah, no one can harm us in any way because Allah is more powerful than any person or anything.

Let us Start with the 1 st Verse ************************ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ************************ قُلْأَعُوذُبِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ( 1 ) Ául'a-`oo’ubi-Rabbil-Fala Say,“I seek refugein (the) Lord(of) the daybreak, مِنشَرِّمَا خَلَقَ ( 2 ) Miº-sharrimaakhala From(the) evil(of) that which He created; وَمِنشَرِّغَاسِقٍإِذَا وَقَبَ ( 3 ) WamiºsharriÄaasiÂin'i’aawaÂab And from(the) evil(of) darknesswhenit becomes intense,

Qul: Say –Qul – Say, i.e., tell everyone the whole world in the most beautiful and kind way. We should not only believe or practice something. We should rather teach it to others also. قُلْ Ául Say

I take refuge… –i.e., I take Protection of Allah. I say it with understanding and strong belief that Allah is there right above us to give us protection.. –He controls the day and the night. He brings out the light of the day through sun from the darkness of the night. قُلْأَعُوذُبِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ( 1 ) Ául'a-`oo’ubi-Rabbil-Fala Say,“I seek refugein (the) Lord(of) the daybreak,

From the evil and harm –From the evil and harm of all creation. Evil is like darkness and Allah is the one who removes darkness and brings the daybreak (Rabbil-falaq) and can therefore remove the evil also. مِنشَرِّمَا خَلَقَ ( 2 ) Miº-sharrimaakhala From(the) evil(of) that which He created;

From the evil, danger and harm of all creation.  Allah created all things for the good, out of His wisdom. But bad people do not follow Allah and hurt others.  Sometimes we get hurt from animals too or from different things such as falling on the road or hit by the ball or hurt by the knife or pencil or anything.  We get hurt because of our own mistakes also. مِنشَرِّمَا خَلَقَ ( 2 ) Miº-sharrimaakhala From(the) evil(of) that which He created;

Example-1 –Allah created all of us to do good things. But if a boy body does bad thing to others, who is to blame? The boy! So, we are saying O Allah! We take your protection from such people.

Example-2: –A car. If you drive it correctly, it helps us to go wherever we want. But, if we don’t know how to drive, or make mistakes, there might be an accident. It is not the car’s fault if there is an accident right? It is we who should be careful. Someone else may come and hit your car. –So, we take protection of Allah from everything and every person. See, how Kind Allah is! How much He loves us. He gave us the formula to protect ourselves.

Surah Al-Falaq… مِنشَرِّمَا خَلَقَ ( 2 ) Miº-sharrimaakhala From(the) evil(of) that which He created;

Surah Al-Falaq… وَمِنشَرِّغَاسِقٍإِذَا وَقَبَ ( 3 ) WamiºsharriÄaasiÂin'i’aawaÂab And from(the) evil(of) darknesswhenit becomes intense, وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِفِي الْعُقَدِ ( 4 ) Wamiº-sharrin-Naffaa¦aatifil-`uÂad And from (the) evil(of) those who blowinthe knots, وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍإِذَا حَسَدَ ( 5 ) Wamiº-sharri…aasidin'i’aa…asad And from the evil(of) the envierwhenhe envies.

3 things where evil can occur most 1.Night 2.Magic 3.Jealousy

The night when it becomes very dark Which is more dangerous - Day or night? At night when it is very dark, many bad things happen:  Evil people like thieves try to attack and rob people more easily in the night.  It is very difficult to get help at that time. It also becomes difficult to make out what is good and what is bad in the dark.

When we sleep –When we sleep in the night, we don’t even know what is happening around us. …fire in the house, or …flood or insects, snake or scorpion moving out or anything. –Allah has been protecting us so far. –Now that we know, we should remember to pray this and ask Allah to protect us.

The night when it becomes very dark  Staying awake late in the night and talking or watching TV may look good but it damages your health and therefore it is also evil.  Temporarily saying a lie is good, but it may lead to punishment. So, it is also evil.  We must seek protection in Allah from all things which make us afraid.

Prophet’s model –That is why our Prophet Muhammad pbuh asked us to stay at home in the night and go to bed early. –We must not keep playing or roaming outside when it becomes dark. –Early to bed and early to rise. That is the formula of the Prophet pbuh. He used to wake up even before Fajr.

Don’t forget to do the HWs –Listen to a tape –Paste the poster in your room and learn the meanings from it at different times in the day –Fill up the worksheets in your book
