Student Planner Place this in the proper place January 22, 2016 Notebook due Feb 3

Summary: We had a normal opening and had the vocabulary quiz for the warm up. We completed the Atom of the Day worksheet, then started the Characteristics of Periodic Table Groups.

Answer the last class’s EQ which was: Essential Question: Be able to identify characteristics of different element groups (you answer after warm up)

Topic/Objective: Name: Groups in the Periodic Table Class/Period: Date: Jan 22, 2016 Essential Question: Demonstrate knowledge of properties of groups 1,2,3 in the warm up

Warm Up

Match the group to the properties. 1. Found in chalk, cement, bones, and airplane parts. 2. Water can cause spontaneous fire mixed with this. 3. Some are reactive, others barely reactive. 4. One of these is a liquid. a) Alkali metals; b) Alkaline earth metals; c) Transition metals.
