The medieval war area.

Different medieval weapons.

catapult There are many different medieval weapons. This is a catapult. It was used to fling giant boulders or fireballs over the walls of the castle.

ballista A machine like a giant crossbow called a ballista.

Battering ram An attacking army tried to smash open the gates with a battering ram.

Siege tower Siege towers, which were ladders enclosed to protect them from the defenders arrows. They helped them get in the castle walls.

Different medieval soldiers

knights Knights wore armour and rode horses. They carried a lance, a sword, a mace and a shield

Foot soldiers Foot soldiers carried swords, daggers and shields. They wore padded jackets.

archers Archers used bows and arrows. Some had longbows and some had crossbows, which were powerful but were very heavy. The medieval archer are the equivalent of today's snipers
