Recommendations on Supports and Adjustment systems for ESS LINAC Components Fabien Rey Pawel Garsztka ESS Survey, Alignment and Metrology Group

2 Objectives Propose a functional, versatile and standard solution for adjustment systems of ACCYS components. Stakeholders ESS SAM Group ESS ACC INTEGRATION Group In-kind Contributor Partners

3 Floor horizontality along 600m should be within ±15mm. Reinforcement bars very close to ground surface (3 to 5 cm). Constraints From Accelerator Division From Civil Engineering Construction From Survey, Alignment and Metrology Group Beam high is 1500 mm from ground level. Component (including support) shall fit inside the allocated space and fulfil interfaces requirements Components shall be aligned with an accuracy below ±0.1mm Grouting plates are excluded. Supports shall be directly fixed into the floor. Effectiveness of the alignment process Standardization of adjustment systems along LINAC Adjustment range available: ± 45 mm Horizontal ± 55 mm Vertical Clamping capability

4 Functional Solution Proposed By SAM group 3 vertical adjustment points 2 horizontal adjustment platforms with clamping capability 3 vertical deformation control/ clamping capabilities Horizontal adjustment placed above Vertical adjustment Solution adaptable to any components and supports with very small modifications

55 3 vertical adjustments 2 x horizontal adjustments 3 vertical clamping/deformation control

6 Different ways of implementing this solution…

77 On the top of this common blue frame support: free to select the most appropriate solution depending on the component

8 Other possibilities… Illustration for ESS DTL proposal
