BAN “TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD”? To Kill A Mocking Bird13/9/2016 Introduction Mockingbirds have extraordinarily diverse repertoires acquired through imitating the calls and songs of different birds, of other animals, humans, some mechanical sounds and even the distinct sounds of other mockingbirds. “Their beautiful singing is an invaluable accompaniment in Alabama and throughout the Southeast. NORTHERN MOCKING BIRD Mimus polyglottos (Linnaeus, 1758)Linnaeus

NO JUSTICE To Kill A Mocking Bird23/9/2016 The book to “Kill a Mocking Bird” is a story about a Tom Robinson and his race symbolized as a mocking bird who does not receive justice no matter how doubtful the evidence is. Though Atticus shows the evidence that the defendant Tom has sustained a debilitating injury as a minor rendering him permanently disabled and incapable of performing the crime he was charged with, Tom is convicted anyway. Tom is convicted and removed from society because he is much like a mocking bird mimicking his oppressors as best he can until he was accused of rape. The Jim Crow society sees him and other Black folks as mocking what White folks do at work, at play, in family life and any other activities. All through life everyday and everyway possible the black folks are undermined and reminded that they are less human, less intelligent, have no rights, and that anything they possess including their lives can be taken in an instant. NORTHERN MOCKING BIRD Mimus polyglottos (Linnaeus, 1758)Linnaeus

LEGITIMACY TO BAN To Kill A Mocking Bird33/9/2016 BELOW ARE A LIST OF COMMON REASONS WHY PEOPLE BAN BOOKS 1.OBSENE LANGUAGE 2.PREMARITAL SEX 3.SEXUALLY EXPLICITNESS 4.RACISM & THE (N-WORD) 5.CHILD DISRESECTFUL *ARE THESE GOOD REASONS TO BAN THE BOOK? NORTHERN MOCKING BIRD Mimus polyglottos (Linnaeus, 1758)Linnaeus

LEGITIMACIES TO BAN, REALLY? To Kill A Mocking Bird43/9/2016 Below are reflections of why the above reasons are not so good. OBSENE LANGUAGE – LAW OFFICERS, UNSUPERVISED YOUTH (HOWEVER INNOCENT), PIOUS PARENTS, (Please read about “a library visit” and “a walk home after the Chicago White Sox ballgame”) PREMARITAL SEX – UNWED MOTHERS, STSDs, OVERPOPULATED COUNTRIES DO NOT HAVE LIBRARIES OR MANY BOOKS. SEXUALLY EXPLICIT – INNOCENT UNSUPERVISED YOUTH DISCUSSIONS or R U M O R S AND HIDDEN PLAY BOY MAGAZINES RACISM (N-WORD) – ASK THE FORMER CLIPPER COACH ONCE AWARDED BY NAACP YOUTH DISRESECTFUL – CHILD TANTREMS AND TEENAGE ATTITUDES ARE OFTEN DISRESPECTFUL. (BET THE KIDS DIDN’T READ A BOOK ON HOW TO DO A TERRIBLE 2 ) NORTHERN MOCKING BIRD Mimus polyglottos (Linnaeus, 1758)Linnaeus

WHY IS THERE SHAME? To Kill A Mocking Bird53/9/2016 THE REAL REASON BEHIND THE BANNING IS BECAUSE “TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD” IS WELL WRITTEN. What is good about the book? 1.You know and identify with the characters. 2.There is no exaggeration 3.The fiction seems to be fact 4.Blatant injustice Points of shamefulness: The book accurately narrates the facts about southern people and the Jim Crow system. The south openly practiced Jim Crow and the North is the same but hypocritical. The blacks want to get beyond mimicry and old Jim Crow keeps them dependent as children and swiftly punishes them for any accusation whether true or not. NORTHERN MOCKING BIRD Mimus polyglottos (Linnaeus, 1758)Linnaeus

BANNING BOOKS NOT BEST IDEA To Kill A Mocking Bird63/9/2016 Summary Banning a book for obscenity, sexual content, racial matters and insubordinate characters may seem to be the right thing to do. Unfortunately, these things are a part of life and we can not bury heads in the sand. The less an individual knows the more vulnerable they are. Everyday kids learn to curse and swear. Kids often rebel against parents while growing up. Law authorities are known to use the n-word sometimes while on duty. Television have sexual innuendos. *Some shopping areas have all the above experiences. Books do not have as much influence on a person’s behavior, as friends, role models, the economy, government policies, and personal experiences do. Books can help people make better decisions.
