Elluminate’s Integration to Blackboard Introducing Building Block Version 2

Blackboard and Elluminate Together  Scheduled Classes –Capture the essence of face to face teacher/student interaction in an online format –Invite an outside speaker or Subject Matter Expert (SME)  Recorded Learning Objects –Record live classes or small tutorials that students can access at any time –Don’t have to cancel class when the instructor is sick, traveling, etc.  Virtual Office Hours –Teachers, professors, teaching assistants can create office hours for students –Can help students even while they are not able to be physically be in a certain place –Can share the office across all courses they teach

Building Block Features  Elluminate Building Block features include: –Provides all users access to Elluminate Live! –Building block can be enabled in all courses or selected courses –Elluminate Live! sessions can be created by instructors, teaching assistants, course builders and graders –Display list and modify scheduled sessions –Access to live sessions and recordings by all –Ability to create content objects with Elluminate meetings and recordings –Playback of recorded sessions by all

Building Block V2 - Requirements  Blackboard Learning System V6.3 or higher –On your own server or –Hosted by Blackboard  Blackboard Building Block –Shipped on a CD or –Downloaded from Blackboard’s site  Elluminate Live! –Hosted Customer or –On your own Server

Integration from the System Administrator Level  The Elluminate Building Block is provided as standard Blackboard extension file, which loads all of the necessary files and utilities

Enable Elluminate for Courses

Assign Course Roles  Select which users can create and join Elluminate Live! sessions

Instructor Level – Integration Points  Elluminate Live! sessions can be created from the Communication tab –One-time, recurring or open meeting rooms –Various session settings are available  Elluminate Live! sessions and recordings can be created as content objects from the Course Information tab –Can be released at certain times to participants –Can be included for grades –Scenario: you have a recording that everyone has to watch. You can create it as a content object and track who has viewed the recording.
