Copyright © 2014 by The University of Kansas What do we mean by developing and improving services? Level A services are the essential services that make it possible for a community to exist as such – fire, police, schools, public works, local government. Level B services exist to prevent problems and to maintain the quality of life in a community Level C services specifically exist to solve problems and correct deficiencies.

Copyright © 2014 by The University of Kansas Who should be involved in developing and improving services? The target population. Other agencies, community-based organizations, and grass roots groups. Local and state officials. The business community. The community at large.

Copyright © 2014 by The University of Kansas When should you seek to develop and improve services? Good times to try to improve services include: At the start of a wide-ranging, long-term community initiative. When a need makes itself clear. When what you’ve been doing isn’t working. When the community asks for a service. When funding becomes available for something that’s been needed for a long time.
